A True "Saturday Night Special" Experience
If you have ever been to any form of Rock N' Roll or country concert, whether big stars on the stadium stage or amateur acts in a seedy dive bar, there's always that guy who is drunker than everyone else yelling out "FREE BIRD!" at the top of his lungs while waving a lighter in the air. A Skynyrd concert is a true experience to behold. The fans are what makeup part of that experience. Since Lynyrd Skynyrd achieved stardom in the early 1970s, fans have driven hours or days just for a chance at seeing them perform. Stepping into the line to enter a Skynyrd show is crossing into another culture. The fans are welcoming, supportive, and friendly as everyone is there for the same experience. That experience starts normally before the show in an almost tailgating fashion in the parking lot. The sounds of Lynyrd Skynrd or other associated hard rock or country fill the air mixing with the aroma of cigarettes, alcohol, and the tense anticipation of the show.
